A slice of cake lit with hope

Updated: Dec 31, 2021

I love cake! I know a special baker who has the gift of making particularly delicious and moist cakes with unique flavors. There is always a tinge of excitement as I await a cake delivery from this particular baker. It is a delightful affair. I always take extreme care when I am setting it up and I have this anticipation of digging into a good-sized slice of it, accompanying it with some nicely brewed Kenyan tea. It truly is a delightful affair.

My amazing children have had the unfortunate experience of accidentally dropping their pieces of cake on the floor. I must tell you these happy moments, most certainly turned into extremely sad moments. In the midst of heart-wrenching sobs, attempts to pick up the crumbling pieces, and get the cake back in its original form was always futile. Even though they would have another piece of that slice of delight, it was never enjoyed in the same way.

There are times in our adult lives when we do feel like that (at least I have). The beautiful, enjoyable, delightful, joyous moments and things are suddenly no longer ours to enjoy. We try and pick up pieces, but it seems that everything we touch crumbles even further. In between heart-break, sadness, overwhelm and all the other emotions taking place, we attempt to make sense of it all.

It’s probably my job to tell you life isn’t fair, but I figure you already know that. So instead, I will tell you that hope is precious, and you’re right not to give up - C.J Redwine

Let me assure you there is always hope. Each good and tough situation that we go through, reveals a little more about ourselves - character, attitudes, values. We can come out stronger, better, happier and healthier.

There is always hope! You CAN be a masterpiece because you already ARE created as a masterpiece (Eph 2:10).

What gives you hope to keep on going?
